Working Principle of Bus Wheelchair Ramps

Working Principle of Bus Wheelchair Ramps
  • Trigger Deployment: When the bus stops and the driver presses the “wheelchair on board” switch, the ramp plate slowly extends from the hidden compartment under the door or inside the steps and gradually lowers to the ground.

  • Slope Adjustment: The angle of deployment of the ramp panel is usually 10°~15° (in line with the accessibility standard), and usually needs to be placed on the curb to ensure that the wheelchair can be pushed smoothly.

  • Usage process: The wheelchair user pushes up the ramp with the help of an assistant, and after entering the compartment, the driver or assistant locks the wheelchair in a defined area (using the wheelchair mounting device inside the compartment).

  • Automatic retraction: After the passenger gets on board, the driver presses the retraction button, the ramp board is automatically retracted into the carriage and the door is closed.
